Day 2

It was nice of so many of my friends to check out my blog. Only my sister is following my blogging though. It must mean she loves me. :-)
My 13 year old (almost 14 year old) son was supposed to come home from his dad's house today, but didn't. He sent me a text message this morning telling me that his dad was sick, but uncle Mike wanted to take him duck hunting tomorrow. I couldn't say no because I was at work, JJ and Shayla are in Pine having fun and he would have come home to an empty house. I asked what time he'd be home and he texted back that he'd be home by 5 PM tomorrow. That was a little later than I had anticipated, so now he'll still be coming home to an empty house. My husband and I have tickets to the Humanitarian Bowl (Club Level...from my in-laws), and his sister is going to go hang out with her boyfriend. I suppose I should feel guilty, but he was originally supposed to come home on Sunday. He would be in Pine snowmobiling with JJ, Shayla, JD, and other family members that love him. He called on Christmas day and told me of a special trip he was going to get to take to go duck hunting on some part of Simplot property. I didn't want to tell him no.
It's hard to let go when your son wants to leave you to spend time with someone you don't feel is fit to be his parent. Will this ever get easier?

18 to 40 -- now what?

At the tender age of 18 I got married. I "thought" that was what I wanted to do, but I was really just running away from home in an acceptable way. As you can guess, it didn't last. Seven years, a stint in Germany, two children and the start of my career as a sky goddess at a major airline, the marriage came to an end.
My children are teenagers, I've remarried to a much better choice this time, and my career as a flight attendant came to an end after 19 years, when I chose to take a severance package to be home more. I took on a job at a doctors office and have been there for more than a year now, but I'm looking for more. I've been taking some college courses, but I just don't know what I want to be when I grow up.
Someone help me! I watched Julie and Julia last night and was intrigued by the blogging Julie did. Maybe I will find something interesting to blog about.
